Louisiana Gambling Revenue Rises in July 2026

industry

Louisiana's gambling market continued to grow in July, with mobile sports betting leading the state's digital wagering activity.

According to the Louisiana Gaming Control Board's (LGCB) July 2026 report, casinos generated $212.5 million in revenue. That figure represented a 7% increase from the same month last year.

Meanwhile, sportsbooks accepted approximately $279.5 million in wagers, marking a 23.5% year-over-year increase. The results show continued demand for sports wagering as Louisiana enters the second half of 2026.

Mobile Sports Betting Drives Louisiana Gambling Growth

Mobile wagering remained the dominant part of Louisiana's sports betting market during July.

According to the LGCB reports, mobile sportsbooks accepted roughly $269.3 million in wagers. That amount accounted for approximately 96% of the state's total sports betting handle.

Retail sportsbooks, by comparison, accepted about $10.2 million in wagers during the month. As a result, mobile wagering generated more than 26 times the handle recorded at retail locations.

The strong mobile performance also helped drive sportsbook revenue higher during July. Sportsbooks generated approximately $34.6 million in revenue, up 10.6% from July 2025.

This performance highlights the importance of mobile platforms to Louisiana gambling, particularly as consumers shift toward digital wagering. The trend also reinforces the growing role of US online sportsbooks within regulated sports betting markets.

Furthermore, July's results arrived just before the start of the NFL season. Football typically attracts significant betting activity, which could provide another boost to Louisiana's mobile wagering market.

Lake Charles Remains Louisiana's Leading Casino Market

Lake Charles remained the largest casino market in Louisiana during July, despite recording more moderate growth.

The market generated $76.8 million in revenue, representing a 5.9% increase from the previous year. L'Auberge Du Lac led the market with $28.6 million in revenue, up 17.1% year over year.

Golden Nugget Lake Charles followed with $26.9 million, while Delta Downs generated another $14.2 million. Together, these properties continued to make Lake Charles an important contributor to Louisiana's casino industry.

New Orleans Records Double-Digit Growth

New Orleans delivered one of the strongest performances among Louisiana's major casino markets.

The district generated $54 million in revenue during July, increasing 11.2% compared with July 2025. Caesars New Orleans led the market with $25.9 million, following a 21.7% year-over-year increase.

Treasure Chest generated $14.2 million, while Boomtown Casino & Hotel contributed $7.8 million. The gains at several major properties helped New Orleans outperform some other Louisiana markets.

Baton Rouge Posts Significant Increase

Baton Rouge also recorded meaningful growth during July, although one property heavily influenced the comparison.

The market generated $24.6 million in revenue, which represented an 11% year-over-year increase. Bally's Baton Rouge accounted for $5.2 million after transitioning from a riverboat to a land-based casino.

That transition helps explain the property's unusually large year-over-year increase. Therefore, its growth should not be viewed as purely organic expansion across the Baton Rouge market.

Shreveport-Bossier Delivers Mixed Results

Shreveport-Bossier posted more modest growth as several properties moved in different directions. The market generated $50.2 million during July, increasing 2.5% from the same month last year.

Margaritaville Resort Casino led the gainers after producing $12.9 million, up 17.5%. Live! Casino also performed well, generating $10.9 million after increasing revenue 15.7% year over year.

Horseshoe Shreveport, meanwhile, recorded $11 million after revenue declined 18.9%. The contrasting results show that Louisiana's casino growth remains uneven across individual properties and markets.

Louisiana Enters Football Season With Momentum

July's results point to continued momentum across Louisiana's regulated gambling industry, particularly within mobile sports betting.

Mobile wagering accounted for the overwhelming majority of the state's sports betting activity during the month. At the same time, major casino markets such as Lake Charles and New Orleans posted solid year-over-year gains.

The upcoming NFL season could further strengthen mobile wagering as football betting activity accelerates across the state. For now, US online sportsbooks remain central to Louisiana's digital gambling market, while US online casinos remain unavailable.

As Louisiana moves deeper into 2026, sports betting should remain a key driver of the state's regulated gambling activity.
