DAZN has taken another step toward expanding its global betting footprint with approval in Ontario. The sports streaming giant has secured regulatory clearance to launch DAZN Bet in Canada's largest market.
As a result, Ontario players could soon access a new option across regulated sports betting and iGaming. The move strengthens competition within the Canada online casino and sports wagering landscape.
Moreover, it also signals DAZN's intent to deepen fan engagement through integrated betting experiences.
DAZN Bet Receives Ontario License From AGCO
The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario has officially granted DAZN Bet an operator license. This approval allows the company to offer regulated online betting products in the province.
Ontario's iGaming market launched in April 2022 and continues to attract global brands. Therefore, DAZN's entry reflects the market's sustained growth and international appeal.
DAZN confirmed the approval enables it to prepare for a full commercial launch. The operator will work with iGaming Ontario to meet all regulatory and technical requirements.
Once live, the app will compete alongside established Canada online sportsbooks already active in Ontario.
Daniel Berthold, EVP of Growth Markets at DAZN Bet, highlighted Canada's strategic importance. He emphasized the company's intention to build a local presence and leadership team.
Additionally, Berthold revealed DAZN is actively searching for a country manager to lead Canadian operations.
"A true zero-to-one role: shape the marketing strategy, lead the team, drive growth and define how Canadian fans experience DAZN Bet from day one," Berthold said.
He also outlined the type of candidate DAZN wants to attract.
"If you have deep experience in regulated betting & gaming, love fast growth environments, and want to build something meaningful from scratch, this is it."
The comments underline DAZN's long-term commitment to Ontario and the wider Canadian market.
DAZN's Broader Gambling Expansion Strategy
DAZN's app already operates in several regulated European jurisdictions. These markets include Spain, Italy, and Germany, where DAZN combines media and wagering. The company aims to replicate that integrated model in Ontario.
By entering Ontario, DAZN Bet would become the province's 50th regulated iGaming operator. That milestone highlights the scale and competitiveness of the local market. Ontario remains North America's most robust regulated iGaming jurisdiction.
DAZN's strategy focuses on blending live sports content with betting opportunities. This approach allows fans to engage with sports beyond traditional viewing. Consequently, DAZN believes this model can differentiate its betting platform.
What will the App Offer Canadian Players?
DAZN Bet plans to deliver a full suite of online gambling products. The platform will include sports wagering across major leagues and global competitions. This includes NFL, NCAA basketball and NCAA football, the Premier League, and UEFA Champions League, among other sports.
Players can expect access to competitive odds and live betting features.
In addition, the app will offer casino-style games for Ontario customers. These products position the operator within the Canada online casino segment. Games may include slots, table games, and live dealer options.
DAZN also plans to leverage its media ecosystem to enhance the betting experience. Integrated streaming, promotions, and exclusive content could support player engagement.
If executed effectively, DAZN Bet could become a notable presence in Ontario's crowded market.
