The Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) recently announced a major partnership with the Responsible Gambling Council (RGC). This collaboration establishes a mandatory "RG Check" accreditation for all licensed online gambling platforms in the province.

The AiGC now requires every registered platform to achieve the RGC's prestigious RG Check accreditation. This independent program evaluates online casinos against evidence-based benchmarks.

Meeting these standards is paramount for any operator wishing to remain active in the province. The RG Check ensures that platforms provide robust tools for self-exclusion and limit-setting. 

Furthermore, it verifies that advertising does not target vulnerable populations or minors. By mandating this, Alberta ensures that Canada gambling standards remain world-class and transparent.

Operators who fail to secure this accreditation risk losing their provincial license entirely. The AiGC insists that player safety must come before profit margins.

Following the Ontario Framework

Alberta is intentionally following the regulatory structure pioneered by Ontario. In 2022, Ontario became the first province to require RG Check for its commercial market.
