Joey Weissman Wins Fifth PGT Title at Poker Masters

Joey Weissman captured his fifth PokerGO Tour (PGT) title after winning Event #3 of the 2026 Poker Masters. He earned $218,400 by taking down the $10,500 No-Limit Hold'em tournament at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas.

The event attracted 78 entries and generated a $780,000 prize pool. Weissman's victory also strengthened his position in the race for the Poker Masters Purple Jacket, adding another milestone to an impressive run.

His latest success followed a second World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet win in an online event. His ability to excel on US online poker sites and in live high-stakes tournaments has made for an impressive stretch of results.

Weissman Overcomes Tough Final-Table Competition

Weissman faced a strong final-table lineup on his way to the title. Jeremy Ausmus began the final day as chip leader but eventually finished sixth for $39,000. Dylan Linde took fifth place for $54,600, while Brock Wilson earned $74,100 for fourth.

Shannon Shorr finished third, collecting $101,400. Before the final showdown, Weissman reflected on competing against familiar faces he had known throughout his career.

"I like to think there's something about being excited to come in here and play with my friends every day and just really enjoying the experience," Weissman said. "Maybe that positive energy… translate(s) in some way."

Weissman also noted the unusual experience of reaching the final stages against longtime peers without having played heads-up against some of them before.

"We were actually kind of laughing about how… I had not played heads up, actually, with any of them over the course of my whole career," he said. "I just love playing with them. They're super tough competitors, really tough players."

Weissman Turns the Tide Against Gheba

Daniyal Gheba held a sizable chip lead when three-handed play began. However, that advantage disappeared within a few hands as Weissman won a substantial pot against Shorr.

The following hand proved even more consequential. In a blind-versus-blind confrontation, Weissman limped from the small blind with Q♠ Q♣. Gheba raised with 7♠ 7♦, but Weissman responded with a three-bet.

Gheba pushed all-in, and Weissman quickly called. The Q♦ 4♥ J♥ 2♣ 9♦ board gave Weissman a set of queens on the flop. Gheba was drawing dead by the turn, handing Weissman a massive chip advantage.

Weissman then eliminated Shorr in third place during another blind-versus-blind clash. Shorr moved all-in with Q♥ 9♥, only to find himself dominated by Weissman's A♦ 9♠.

The 4♣ 10♠ 4♦ 5♦ J♦ runout failed to improve either player's hand. Weissman's ace-high therefore held, sending Shorr to the rail with $101,400.

A Dramatic River Seals Weissman's Fifth PGT Title

Weissman held nearly all the chips in play when heads-up action began. He needed only one hand to finish the tournament, although the final showdown initially appeared headed for a split pot.

Weissman moved all-in with Q♣ 8♣, and Gheba quickly called for his remaining 12 big blinds with Q♠ 3♠. Weissman held the stronger kicker before the flop, but the board's runout made the outcome more dramatic.

The board produced three deuces and a jack, leaving both players poised to split the pot. However, the 8♠ river improved Weissman to a full house, ending Gheba's run and securing Weissman's fifth PGT title.

Weissman collected $218,400 for first place, while Gheba earned $140,400 as the runner-up.

Fifth PGT Title Boosts Purple Jacket Hopes

The victory delivered more than another tournament trophy for Weissman. It also improved his position in the 2026 Poker Masters standings, where players compete for the series championship and its distinctive Purple Jacket.

Myles Mullaly remained the leaderboard leader after winning Event #1 and recording additional cashes. Weissman moved into second place following his Event #3 victory, while Nick Palma and Daniyal Gheba also remained among the leading contenders.

With several events still to play, the standings could change quickly. Consistent finishes will be crucial for players hoping to overtake Mullaly and secure the overall title.

The Poker Masters runs from October 12 to 23, 2026, with 10 events scheduled at the PokerGO Studio. Each result can influence the final leaderboard, making Weissman's latest victory an important step toward the series championship.

Weissman Adds Momentum to an Impressive Year

Weissman's fifth PGT title reinforces his standing in high-stakes poker and extends his recent winning streak. His latest victory also gives him a stronger position in the race for the Purple Jacket.

However, the series championship remains up for grabs. With the Poker Masters continuing through October 23, Weissman will look to build on his latest result and challenge for the overall title.
