Suns vs Timberwolves NBA Analysis, Odds, and Best Bet (3/28) Basketball player Anthony Edwards screaming.

nba

Happy Thursday, everyone! Tonight's slate of hoops features just four games for bettors and viewers, and I'll be honing in on half of them with a few prop bets.

We're coming off a disappointing outing Tuesday night, going 1–2 on our picks. However, we still sit at 88-64-1 on the season, up +15.56 units. Let's look to respond accordingly and get some coin back tonight.

So let's go ahead and dive into my NBA prop bets for Thursday, January 8.

NBA Prop Bets for Thursday, January 8

Anthony Edwards hits big shot.

T'Wolves Moneyline (-135) vs Cavs

Let's begin in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, where the Timberwolves play host to the Cavaliers.

Since getting embarrassed 126–102 in Atlanta against the Hawks, Minnesota has rattled off three straight wins, including a 122–94 beatdown of the Miami Heat on Tuesday night.

That loss appears to have been the best thing for the T'Wolves. It clearly served as a wake-up call, and I believe they'll carry that momentum into tonight's matchup against Cleveland.

On paper, while the gap isn't massive, Minnesota holds the edge on both ends of the floor. Offensively, the Timberwolves rank sixth in points per 100 possessions and seventh in effective field goal percentage. Cleveland checks in 10th and 12th in those same categories.

Defensively, Minnesota is even stronger, ranking fifth in points per possession allowed and fourth in eFG%. The Cavaliers sit 12th and 11th, respectively.

The Timberwolves also stack up more efficiently in both half-court and transition play, giving them a clear edge. When you factor in the recent spark for this Wolves team and the injuries Cleveland is dealing with, this appears to set up as a favorable spot for the home side.

Ayo Dosunmu Under 14.5 Points (+100)

Let's move to the Windy City, where the Bulls host the Miami Heat on Thursday night.

Chicago is on the second leg of a back-to-back and will be short-handed. Josh Giddey and Zach Collins are out, while both Coby White and Jalen Smith are questionable after sitting out Wednesday night.

That puts a heavier workload on players like Ayo Dosunmu, which in theory could lead to more scoring opportunities – but it also makes this matchup significantly tougher.

If White is ruled out, Miami's defensive game plan becomes fairly straightforward in terms of where to focus its attention. And if White does suit up, it likely caps the recent offensive surge we've seen from Dosunmu.

This is also a difficult defense to face under any circumstances, especially for a depleted offense. The Heat rank sixth in defensive points per possession and seventh in effective field goal percentage allowed.

This sets up as a spot to sell high on Dosunmu tonight.

Kel'el Ware Over 10.5 Points (-107)

We'll keep our final play in the city of Chicago, where I'll be targeting one of Miami's big men for a strong performance.

I'm taking Kel'el Ware over 10.5 points tonight. He draws a favorable matchup against a Bulls defense that ranks 20th in points per 100 possessions allowed and 19th in effective field goal percentage.

Ware takes a majority of his shots at the rim – and Chicago just so happens to allow the highest rate of opponent attempts there in the NBA (36.5%). He also mixes in a fair amount of looks from beyond the arc, another area where the Bulls struggle, ranking 21st in opponent three-point field goal percentage allowed (36.8%).

The last time these teams met, Ware poured in 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting. With Chicago on the second leg of a back-to-back and potentially thin in the frontcourt, this shapes up as another strong spot for Ware.
