Analysis & Breakdown

Most Valuable?
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was awarded his second MVP Award prior to the start of Game 1 and it looked like the Spurs took that personally. Shai scored 24 points in Game 1, but the Spurs held him to just 30% from the field. He went 7/23 from the field, 2/7 from the perimeter and 8/9 from the free throw line.
Shai's been great in the postseason, averaging 28.6 points per game and shooting nearly 50% from the field. The problem is the Thunder's two previous opponents were no where close, defensively, to the Spurs current roster.
That being said, the Thunder have been great defensively. In Game 1, Oklahoma City forced 23 turnovers, scored 28 points off those turnovers and held San Antonio to just 43% from the field.
Jalen Williams also made his return to the lineup in Game 1. Despite early reports his play time might be limited, overtime allowed Williams to play 37 minutes. He scored 26 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and shot 44% from the field. Williams was huge in his return and showed no signs of rust.
Lastly, Chet Holmgren needs to be better in this series. He finished with 8 points on the night, 8 rebounds and finished the game with a plus/minus of -7. The problem is size and usually that's where Isaiah Hartenstein comes in. The problem is Hartenstein can't stretch the floor and he quickly became unplayable against Wembanyama.
Victor Von Doom
Now let's talk about Victor. Vic's had some big games in the postseason so far, this was by far the biggest. He scored 41 points, grabbed 24 rebounds and hit one of the craziest shots we've ever seen to send the game into overtime.
Wemby fininshed the night with just 3 blocked shots, but altered countless others. The 7'4 Frenchman finished the night as a +16 in a 7-point, double overtime win against the defending champs. At one point in the game, the Thunder were shooting 16/50 with Wembanyama on the floor, versus 10/16 with him off the floor.
That's been a consistent theme for San Antonio in these playoffs and when you watch Victor play, it's easy to see why. With him on the floor, the Spurs have a net rating of +20.6 in the postseason and the team's defensive rating drops as low as 98.7. That means per 100 possessions, the Spurs are giving up just 98.7 points with Wemby on the floor. Insane.
San Antonio's allowing just 103.5 points per game in the playoffs and just held the Thunder to 115 in a double overtime game. Wemby played 49 minutes in a 58-minute game and for someone his size, that's scary.
Tonight's going to be a night of adjustments. Both Head Coaches are two of the best in the league and I'm expecting not only adjustments, but counters and so much more in tonight's game.
Wednesday's Best Bets

Julian Champagnie o14.5 P/R (-105) | Lucky Rebel
The line remains the same and I'm going right back. The Spurs shot just 30% from the perimeter in Game 1 and still somehow walked out with a win. Champagnie took 11 3's and that's the kind of volume I can't ignore. He played 44 minutes in the double overtime game, scored 11 points and had 9 rebounds.
Champagnie is averaging 10.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game in the postseason. He's shooting 47% from the field, 43% from the perimeter and averaging just under 2 stocks per game. San Antonio need's Champagnie's three point shooting and despite a poor shooting night in Game 1, the volume should remain.
The Thunder's one weakness is on the perimeter and even more so from the corner three spot. Champagnie's shooting 46% from the corner over his last 10 games and like I said, that's exactly where the Thunder struggle. He took 4 of his 11 three point attempts from the corner and went 1/4.
Tonight I'm expecting a better shooting night and it's why I love this line for Champagnie.
