Lieutenant Dan and Desert Dawn are favored in their respective races on Sunday at Del Mar. Both look to be strong favorites that will be tough to beat.

Del Mar- Race 1

Post: 1:00 PM PT; $80k Maiden Special Weight going 5 1/2 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 9

#5 CARLA (8-5) debuts here and gets the top selection. She has to be respected going out for the combination of Baffert and Hernandez.
#8 SHE'S INTHEARMYNOW (8-1) should improve off the first start and was solid on debut.
#4 HUNTINGCOCO (5-1) debuts here for the Baffert barn and gets Vazquez in the irons.
#3 MOONLIT MISCHIEF (3-1) gets a short price on the morning line which is a good signal on a first time starter.

#1 HAIL FREEDOM (9-5) has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
#3 AMERICAN ADMIRAL (4-1) should be competitive in this spot. He projects to sit mid pack and come with one run.
#7 BOLD ENDEAVOR (5-2) may benefit from a hot pace up front.

#4 MYSTIC FLYER (8-1) was productive on debut and could improve off that.

#14 LALIC (4-1) gets the top selection. She has races good enough to beat this group.
#1 INVINCIBELLA (7-2) should be competitive in this spot. JJ Hernandez is one of the best riders in the colony, especially on turf.
#13 STORMING LADY (5-1) has solid early pace figures in a race that looks to lack a ton of front running speed.
#3 DANCING CRANE (5-1) should be competitive in this spot. She has the top overall power rating in the group.

Del Mar- Race 5

#1 DESERT DAWN (9-5) appears to be a major player in this race. She capable at winning at the highest level.
#5 UNDER THE STARS (5-2) has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
#7 GRACE ADLER (3-1) goes out for the Baffert barn and gets Smith in the irons.
#3 MIDNIGHT MEMORIES (3-1) has really consistent pace figures which should work well in a moderately paced race.

#7 STAYIN' OUT LATE (4-1) appears to be a major player in this race. He has races good enough to beat this group.
#2 ECONOMICAL (3-1) makes sense on speed figures.

#9 BRIEFCASE GIRL (5-1) has run speed figures that make her a definite threat in this race.
