It can be hard for players with a 9-5 to find time to play the midweek cards. Evening racing at tracks like Penn National can change that.
Tuesday Evening Full Card Analysis
Penn National Race 1
Post: 6:00 PM ET; Purse: $28,000 Allowance, 1 Mile 70 Yards on Dirt; Entries: 5
- #5 NIMITZ (9-5) has a great shot in the race given the speed & class of this runner.
- #1 BLO MY BUDGET (7-5) looks like a strong prospect edging the field in several key handicapping factors including connections & power rating.
- #4 SHARP RED EAGLE (4-1) has speed figures that make sense with this group however, it feels like in most horizontal wagers you can get away with the top 2 selections.
- #3 TALENTED T J (6-1) has run against solid enough competition to at least merit a look in this spot.
Selections: 5-1-4-3
Penn National Race 2
Post: 6:27 PM ET; Purse: $11,800 Claiming, 1 1/16 Miles on Dirt; Entries: 6
- #6 VITESSE (5-2) has to be respected today edging the field in several key handicapping factors including class & early pace numbers. Penn National can be very speed favoring and being on the front should help this one immensely.
- #5 LEGIT (3-1) is a major player in today's race edging the field in several key handicapping factors including speed figures & overall power rating.
- #3 GOOGLE IT (2-1) rates out lower than the field in a lot of categories, but is consistent across all categories. At this level sometimes those types can be good enough, but I prefer them as longshots, not favorites.
- #4 MAIN COOL CAT (8-1) is coming in with some sneaky solid form so maybe this one has a shot as a longer shot.
Selections: 6-5-3-4
Penn National Race 3
Post: 6:54 PM ET; Purse: $10,000 Claiming, 6 Furlongs on Dirt; Entries: 9
- #1 INTERCEPT (2-1) is a major player in today's race edging the field in several key handicapping factors including speed & power rating.
- #4 FOR THE MOMENT (8-1) looks to have to have kept the best company in the previous starts. On a card that doesn't appear to have many obvious long shot winners, this one could be in the best spot to get it done.
- #8 C C'S WARRIOR (3-1) is worth a look here. I expect this one to make a break for the early lead and try to sneak off with a wire to wire victory.
- #6 PECOS BILL (10-1) has some of the best energy distribution for the distance. If this one gets close and there isn't a lot closing, I could see this one holding on for a piece.
Selections: 1-4-8-6
Penn National Race 4
Post: 7:22 PM ET; Purse: $15,400 Claiming, 6 Furlongs on Dirt; Entries: 7
- #2 KATESALUCKYGIRL (7-2) is a major player in today's race edging the field in several key handicapping factors including speed & early pace numbers.
- #1 GIMME'S GOLDENGIRL (3-1) has to be respected based on the connections.
- #5 DASHI (6-1) is worth a look here given edges in class shown in recent starts.
- #7 WINDY GLO SAL (5-2) is proven as a good bet to at least hit the board under today's distance and surface conditions.
Selections: 2-1-5-7
Penn National Race 5
Post: 7:49 PM ET; Purse: $15,400 Maiden Claiming, 1 Mile 70 Yards on Dirt; Entries: 6
- #3 PEACEARELLA (2-1) will look to get to the lead and stay there from start to finish. I normally dislike favorites in maiden claiming races, but when they appear to be the speed of the race, it is a much more appetizing play.
- #4 LIFE IS ETERNAL (6-1) will likely have the stamina to outlast these in the final jumps of the race.
- #6 POP THE CLUTCH (3-1) has done well at the mile 70 yard distance in previous tries.
- #1 SHE SO COOL (8-1) has faced some decent fields in previous efforts so maybe this one can get it done at a price today.
Selections: 3-4-6-1 (Best Bet: #3 PEACEARELLA)
Penn National Race 6
Post: 8:16 PM ET; Purse: $31,600 Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs on Dirt; Entries: 9
- #1 FED CHAIR (4-1) is a major player in today's race edging the field in several key handicapping factors including speed & breeding.
- #6 RADIEUX (3-1) has found the board at this distance in previous starts so maybe today is the breakthrough day.
- #4 JUSTICEOFTHEPEACE (8-1) has to be respected based on the connections.
- #7 GANDI (6-1) could get a really nice setup in this race. This one should have no problem if the others decide they don't want to get the full 6 furlong distance.
Selections: 1-6-4-7
Penn National Race 7
Post: 8:43 PM ET; Purse: $28,900 Allowance Optional Claiming, 1 Mile 70 Yards on Dirt; Entries: 6
- #5 PRIME TIME PLAYER (5-2) is a major player in today's race edging the field in several key handicapping factors including speed & form.
- #3 DOLLARIZATION (3-1) is in with a great chance based on the horse's record at the distance & power rating.
- #2 COPPERHEAD CREEK (5-1) has to be respected based on the connections.
- #1 MIDNIGHT ACT (9-2) has speed figures that make enough sense to be a fringe player here.
Selections: 5-3-2-1
Penn National Race 8
Post: 9:10 PM ET; Purse: $11,800 Claiming, 1 Mile 70 Yards on Dirt; Entries: 6
- #5 SUPER HOUDINI (3-1) merits consideration in this spot given edges in stamina & record at the distance.
- #1 VISHNU (6-1) has the top speed figures and figures to get the best of the race flow.
- #6 BOCK (2-1) is in with a great chance based on the horse's connections, but I'm not sure that's enough for me to make this one the favorite.
- #2 AFLEET TRAXX (12-1) is worth a look here given edges in class & form.
Selections: 5-1-6-2
