Fair Grounds will run a rare Tuesday card. The aptly named Mardi Gras Stakes honors one of New Orleans great traditions and continues a busy week of racing.
Fair Grounds- Race 1
Post: 1:15 PM CT; $17k Claiming going 1 mile on dirt; Entries: 8
- #7 ITELLYOUTHEFACTS (3-1) gets the top selection. He has the top overall power rating in the group. This one has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here.
- #1 ARCTIC ROSE (7-2) should be competitive in this spot. He has races good enough to beat this group. This one could get the right setup in this race.
- #3 THE THREE KS (5-1) could be in with a shot in this race. He makes sense on speed figures. This one comes into the race in really good form.
- #8 ARGYBARGY BUCK (8-1) is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. This one has tactical speed and can sit just off the leaders for a stalk and pounce trip.
Selections: 7 – 1 – 3 – 8
Fair Grounds- Race 2
Post: 1:45 PM CT; $15k Claiming going 5 1/2 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 9
- #1 MR. PRODUCTION (5-2) is the top pick. He has solid early pace figures in a race that looks to lack a ton of front running speed. This one has tactical speed and can sit just off the leaders for a stalk and pounce trip.
- #8 GOLDEN PALACE (7-2) should be competitive in this spot. He projects to sit mid pack and come with one run.
- #9 NOSY BANKER (8-1) isn't without hope. He makes sense on speed figures. This one could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end.
- #3 WHY JOEY WHY (6-1) should be part of the early pace in this spot.
Selections: 1 – 8 – 9 – 3
Fair Grounds- Race 3
Post: 2:15 PM CT; $32k Claiming going 1 1/16 miles on dirt; Entries: 6
- #5 SUMMER SPLASH (9-5) looks best here. He has races good enough to beat this group.
- #3 BLUE JAYS (2-1) should be competitive in this spot. He goes out for the Hartman barn and gets Castillo in the irons.
- #4 MY BARILEY (4-1) feels like a fringe contender in this spot. He will likely have a lot to do in the lane, but could get up with a competitive run.
- #6 GIMME SOME MO (15-1) is a price horse and seems to be running for the minor placings in this contest. This is the kind of horse you will need on vertical tickets if the top of the odds board runs to expectation.
Selections: 5 – 3 – 4 – 6
Fair Grounds- Race 4

- #7 IZZY'S BABY BOY (4-1) should be competitive in this spot. He has tactical speed and can sit just off the leaders for a stalk and pounce trip. This one has to be respected going out for the combination of Gelner and Geroux.

Selections: 3 – 2 – 7 – 5
Fair Grounds- Race 5
Post: 3:15 PM CT; $20k Claiming going 5 1/2 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 8
- #5 GORMLEYS GOT GAME (5-2) is the top pick. The speed figures he’s put up will make him tough to beat in this spot.
- #2 GLENN'S JUMPER (12-1) is a price horse and should be competitive in this spot. He has really consistent pace figures which should work well in a moderately paced race.
- #3 POPULIST (4-1) will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late.
- #1 CARBON STRYKER (6-1) feels like a fringe contender in this spot. He has to be respected going out for the combination of Tracy and Loveberry. This one runs evenly and looks to get a very fair pace scenario here.
Selections: 5 – 2 – 3 – 1
Fair Grounds- Race 6
Post: 3:45 PM CT; $30k Starter Allowance going 1 mile on dirt; Entries: 8
- #2 CONSTITUTIONAL LAW (8-1) looks best here. He has tactical speed and can sit just off the leaders for a stalk and pounce trip. This one shouldn't have trouble with the 1 mile distance.

- #5 MASTER GAME (9-2) could be in with a shot in this race. He has back races good enough to beat this group.
- #6 SCHMOOZIN (6-1) has shown the ability to stop the clock in times that would be good enough to win this one, but he would benefit from a hot pace up front to run his best number.
Selections: 2 – 3 – 5 – 6

Post: 4:15 PM CT; $51k Allowance Optional Claiming going 6 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 7

- #4 TWIRLING ROSES (7-2) may benefit from a hot pace up front.
- #7 PRADO'S PRIORITY (5-1) should be competitive in this spot. He comes into the race in really good form.
Selections: 5 – 6 – 4 – 7

- #6 MINER'S QUEEN (12-1) is a price horse and should be competitive in this spot. She shouldn't have trouble with the about 5 1/2 furlong distance. It’s hard to argue with the way this one is coming into the race.

- #9 MUNNINGS CATSLE (6-1) debuts here and appears to be a major player in this race. He has the pedigree to get the job done early, especially against maiden claiming runners.
- #5 CHELSEA'S GLORY (6-1) should be sitting in the second tier of runners and looking to make one well timed run at the leaders. This one has really consistent pace figures which should work well in a moderately paced race.
- #3 RUNAWAY JIM (5-1) goes out at first asking and has to be respected going out for the combination of Faucheux and Rodriguez.
