Georgia vs. Oklahoma College World Series 6/15 Prediction & Picks cover (Georgia's Daniel Jackson)

Many think that Georgia is the team to beat in the College World Series, and the Bulldogs only strengthened that case with a resounding win over Texas in their opening game Saturday. Tonight, the third-seeded Bulldogs will look to take a big step towards a title as they face off with Oklahoma in a winner's bracket matchup.

With UCLA and Georgia Tech going down in the regionals, Georgia (52-12) went to Omaha as the highest remaining national seed and the favorite to emerge from an all-SEC bracket consisting of themselves and No. 6 Texas, No. 7 Alabama, and Oklahoma.

After dispatching the Longhorns 7-1 behind a masterpiece by Joey Volchko, the Bulldogs are eyeing a semifinal berth tonight as they face the Sooners (39-22), who continued a sizzling stretch by shutting out the Crimson Tide 9-0.

At Lucky Rebel and other top online sportsbooks, the odds are heavily in Georgia's favor. That should come as no surprise, but with the run that Oklahoma is on, no one should underestimate the Sooners' shot to pull a shocker.

Georgia vs. Oklahoma Prediction and Analysis

Though Troy's presence in the other bracket is notable because the Trojans are the lone mid-major in this year's CWS, Oklahoma is arguably the most intriguing team in the field.

The Sooners were 14-16 in SEC play this season, finishing tied for 11th with Vanderbilt. They actually came out better than where they were projected to finish in the conference's preseason coaches poll (14th), but they did not enter the postseason with the same fanfare as other SEC squads.

They were sent to Atlanta, where it looked like their season would end after being sent into the loser's bracket by No. 2 Georgia Tech then falling behind 8-2 in a championship game rematch. But the switch flipped, and two comebacks in two days saw the Sooners move on to the super regionals, where they swept aside No. 15 Kansas in Lawrence.

Then came Saturday's showdown with Alabama, who was no match in any facet as Oklahoma punched first, next, and last to set up tonight's tilt with Georgia.

Little jumps off of the page statistically for Oklahoma, especially compared to Georgia. But the Sooners are as hot as fish grease right now, scoring 68 runs in their last six games. That kind of offensive surge will play anywhere, anytime, but when paired with a pitching staff that has allowed just three runs in its last 31 innings, it makes for an especially dangerous team.

That said, there is something about this Georgia team that feels inevitable, much like the New York Knicks in the just-concluded NBA Finals or Michigan in March Madness this past season.

Georgia vs. Oklahoma Picks

Georgia -2.5 (-125 at Lucky Rebel)

Through the first two days of the College World Series, only one of six games was decided by fewer than three runs.

I'm certainly not overlooking what the Sooners have done since staring down elimination multiple times in Atlanta, or how Omaha can neutralize the best of offenses. But it is difficult to see Oklahoma faring much better than Texas did the other night, as this pack of Dawgs just has too much bite.
