UNLV Rebels vs Seton Hall Pirates Picks

<p>Prior to this season, UNLV had not been to a postseason tournament since 2013. Now, the Runnin’ Rebels are on the cusp of the NIT semifinals, which they will reach with a win tonight at Seton Hall (7:00 pm ET, ESPN2).</p>
<p>Had they been more consistent in the regular season, UNLV (21-12) would have made the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2013. That was the most recent of their 20 all-time tournament appearances.</p>
<p>With a non-conference win over Creighton, a conference sweep of New Mexico, and wins over Boise State (in Boise), Colorado State, and San Diego State, the Rebels might have been a popular March Madness upset pick.</p>
<p>As it is, winning 12 conference games, a fourth-place finish in the Mountain West (ahead of NCAA Tournament teams San Diego State, Colorado State, and New Mexico), and a trip to the NIT are an achievement for a program that was once one of the best in college basketball.</p>
<p>Following wins at Princeton (84-77) and against Boston College (79-70) at home in the first two rounds, UNLV now has a date with Seton Hall (22-12).</p>
<p>After being snubbed for the Big Dance, the Pirates accepted an NIT bid, like fellow “First Four Out” team Indiana State did. With wins over Saint Joseph’s (75-72 in overtime) and North Texas (72-58) in the bag, the Pirates are now aiming to reach the NIT semifinals for the first time since 1953, when they won the tournament.</p>
<p>Will the Runnin’ Rebels add another big win to their collection this season? Or will the top-seeded Pirates, one of the tournament’s favorites, advance from their bracket? My UNLV vs Seton Hall prediction and best bets are below.</p>

<h2>UNLV vs Seton Hall Betting Analysis and Prediction</h2>
<p>Thanks to their numerous close losses—six losses by three or fewer points, including overtime losses to Saint Mary’s and San Diego State—as well as head-scratching losses to Southern (a 14-point home loss), Loyola Marymount, and Air Force (a 32-point home loss), the Runnin’ Rebels are in the NIT instead of the NCAA Tournament.</p>
<p>But while those close losses hurt their March Madness hopes, several of them proved to be helpful to bettors.</p>
<p>Entering tonight’s game at Seton Hall, UNLV is 10-3 ATS (6-7 SU) as an underdog this season, including 4-2 ATS (3-3 SU) as a road underdog. In their last game as a road underdog, they covered and won as a 4.5-point underdog in their first-round win at Princeton.</p>
<p>Led by freshman Dedan Thomas and the Boone twins, UNLV is 65<sup>th</sup> in adjusted offensive efficiency (KenPom). If they finish inside the top 70, it will be the first time since 2017 and just the second time they have done so since 2012.</p>

<p>After scoring 84 and 79 points in covering and winning in the first two rounds, the Runnin’ Rebels are now 11-4 SU and 11-2 ATS when scoring 75+ points this season, though they have failed to score 75+ points in three consecutive games this season.</p>
<p>That might not happen tonight against Seton Hall, who is 45<sup>th</sup> nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency and has allowed 75+ points just 11 times this season, including just three times in 19 home games.</p>
<p>But if they can even hit 70 points, it might be enough to win or at least cover. Seton Hall is 9-11 SU and 5-15 ATS when allowing 70+ points this season.</p>
<p>I really like what I’ve seen from the Runnin’ Rebels when they have been at their best this season, which has usually been against better competition like they will face tonight in South Orange.</p>
<p>I won’t quite commit to backing them to win outright, but I would suggest a small wager on the moneyline. Given who they have beaten and hung with this season, this is a game that they can definitely win. At minimum, they will keep it close enough to cover.</p>
