The Cavs lost their first 15 games in a row when they entered the NBA in 1970 and finished no better than 6th in the Eastern Conference during their first five seasons.

They also has a losing streak of 24 straight games during the 1981/82 and 1982/83 seasons.

In the 2003 draft, they selected LeBron James with the number 1 overall pick and they made their first NBA Finals appearance in 2007. After James left and went to Miami, the Cavs finished last in the Eastern Conference and suffered the longest losing streak in a single season in the NBA. It is also the second longest of all time.

The Cavs won the number 1 pick in the draft in three of the four seasons between 2010 and 2014.

They selected Kyrie Irving in 2011 from Duke University, Anthony Bennett from University of Nevada in 2013 and Andrew Wiggins from the University of Kansas in 2014.

On the back of these draft picks, LeBron James returned home to Cleveland and led his team to four consecutive NBA Finals and in 2016, the franchise won their first NBA Championship.

It was the first time in NBA history that a team had come back from a 3-1 deficit in the series to win. They did it against the Golden State Warriors.
