<p>Since making the move to the American League in 2018 with the Houston Astros, Cole has made seven starts against the Orioles, posting a 4-1 record with a 1.41 ERA.</p>
<p>Of the seven starts, six have been quality starts, and in 44.2 innings against the Orioles, he has struck out 64, allowed only 27 hits, nine walks, and seven earned runs.</p>
<p>This will be his first outing against the Orioles this season, but the odds are high that his previous success will carry over into tonight. </p>
<p>Cole didn’t have a good start out of the gate, but he has gotten back on track in a big way since. In his last four starts, he is 3-0 with a 1.42 ERA. In 25.1 innings, he has allowed just four runs and has tallied 34 strikeouts to just five walks. As a result, he remains one of the leading AL <a href="/articles/mlb/cy-young-award-odds/">Cy Young Award</a> favorites, coming in third behind Houston’s Justin Verlander and Toronto’s Kevin Gausman.</p>
<p>His opposite number could help keep this one a tight, low-scoring affair. Lyles is 1-3 with a 6.64 ERA in four road starts, but he is 1-9 with a 1.93 ERA in three home starts. </p>
<p>That includes a strong outing against the Yankees on April 15, in which he allowed one run, six hits, and two walks in 5.1 innings. He was on the hook for the loss when he exited, but the Orioles forced extras and then won 2-1 in 11 innings.</p>
