San Francisco Giants vs San Diego Padres Picks

<p>After taking the first two games of the series, the San Diego Padres will have a series win in their sights when they take on the San Francisco Giants today at Petco Park.</p>
<p>Ahead of the visit from their NL West rivals, the Padres had lost eight of their previous ten games. </p>
<p>But it’s been so far, so good in this series, as they eked out a 2-1, 10-inning win on Thursday then followed it with a 6-3 win in yesterday’s matchup, with Blake Snell picking up his first win since August 31 of last year in the process.</p>
<p>In today’s encounter, Yu Darvish will be out to continue his fantastic form at home, while Carlos Rodon will be aiming to lead stumbling, sliding San Francisco to a much, much-needed win. </p>

<h2 id="5s9en">Struggling San Francisco Unlikely to Repeat Previous Performance Against Darvish</h2>
<p>When Darvish last faced the Giants, it was ugly, to put it mildly. </p>
<p>In his second start of the season, Darvish faced the Giants at Oracle Park on April 12. And in just 1.2 innings in the 13-2 loss, he allowed eight hits, nine runs, and two walks.</p>
<p>Don’t expect similar results this time around, for a number of reasons. </p>
<p>Yesterday’s loss was the eighth in nine games for San Francisco, and they are just 1-7 thus far in July. In those eight games, they have scored just 23 runs and are hitting a mere .183.</p>
<p>And while the Giants hit better against right-handed pitchers (.234) than they do against left-handed pitchers (.231), they are hitting just .231 and averaging 4.51 runs per game in games started by righties and .239 and averaging 4.96 runs per game in games started by lefties.</p>
<p>This particular righty has been terrific at home this season, going 4-1 with a 1.75 ERA in seven starts, compared to 3-3 with a 5.25 ERA in eight road starts. In his home starts, opponents are hitting just .163 against him, while they are hitting .270 against him when he starts on the road.</p>
