<p>After a tough loss in extra innings on Tuesday night against the Milwaukee Brewers, the Los Angeles Dodgers quickly got back to winning ways last night. </p>
<p>This afternoon, they will look to successfully navigate a matchup with Corbin Burnes and secure a series win in Milwaukee.</p>
<p>Tuesday’s 5-4, 11-inning loss was just the third in 21 games for the Dodgers, but they bounced back with last night’s 2-1 win, with Tony Gonsolin tossing seven shutout innings to improve to 15-1.</p>
<p>One NL Cy Young candidate was on the mound last night in Gonsolin, and another will be on the mound today in Burnes, who will be looking to pick up a much-needed win for both himself and the Brewers.</p>

<h2 id="5dq1s">Will Burnes Get Burned Again at Home?</h2>
<p>Not for the first time this season, a strong performance for Burnes saw him go empty-handed in the win column last time out.</p>
<p>Against the rival St. Louis Cardinals last Saturday, he allowed just one run and four hits in seven excellent innings, but he received a no-decision thanks to the pen giving up a lead in the eighth.</p>
<p>But unlike his first two starts in August, the Brewers did come away with the win, triumphing 3-2 in ten innings for what would be their only win of their four-game series against the Cards.</p>
<p>The Brewers are 14-9 in Burnes’s starts this season, but they are just 6-6 in his starts at American Family Field. Burnes has eight quality starts and has allowed two or fewer runs nine times at home, but Milwaukee has scored three or fewer runs seven times in his dozen home starts and is 1-6 in those seven games.</p>
<p>That isn’t overly encouraging for today’s game, given that the Dodgers have allowed more than three runs only once in Heaney’s seven starts and are 6-1 in his starts.</p>
<p>Heaney has gone five or more innings only twice, but with a bullpen that is third in MLB in bullpen ERA (3.12, behind the Astros’ 2.89 and the Yankees’ 3.00), he doesn’t need to go deep.</p>
<p>If Burnes is to somehow make things interesting with the NL Cy Young Award race, a gem and a win today would help his cause. Entering today, Marlins pitcher Sandy Alcantara is a -650 favorite at BetOnline, well ahead of Burnes (+1000), Max Scherzer (+3000), Gonsolin, and Mets closer Edwin Diaz (both +4000).</p>

<p>Will it be enough to get the win? Even a couple of runs could prove to be enough in this matchup, and Heaney has allowed five runs in 7.2 innings in his last two starts. I expect the Brew Crew to scratch across enough runs to pick up a big win in a game that they need to win.</p>
