<p>The Wildcats are off to a 7-3 start in Big East play, including a win over the Pirates on the road. They&#8217;ve alternated wins in their last five conference games, and if that pattern continues, they are in for a home loss tonight after beating the Providence Friars this weekend. Can they complete the season sweep of Seton Hall? Or can the Pirates get their revenge on the road?</p>
<p>Seton Hall has already exceeded expectations (in my eyes), as they were once ranked in the top 25 this season. Their only non conference loss was to USC in the Maui Invitational Semifinals by two points, but they have only faced two ranked teams this year, going 1-1 straight up as they lost to UConn by five at home. As three possession underdogs today, can they find a way to pull off this upset and avoid losing to Villanova twice this year?</p>

<h3>Seton Hall vs. Villanova Prediction: Villanova Wins, Seton Hall Covers, Under 133.5</h3>

<p>The Pirates already play slow. They rank No. 260 in the country in terms of pace, averaging just over 65 possessions per game. While that number does increase away from home, the Wildcats are not a team that likes to run, and if they control the tempo of this game, it will be even slower than the Pirates normally play.</p>
<p>Villanova ranks bottom 15 in terms of possessions per game at home and they&#8217;ve had just two games at Finneran Pavilion touch 70 possessions (against Duquesne and St. Johns, two very fast teams). In fact, when hosting Temple and Pittsburgh (two very slow teams), we only saw 58 trips up and down the floor. This game will be played at a snail&#8217;s pace. But let&#8217;s talk defenses.</p>
<p>The hosts are No. 42 in the country in overall defensive efficiency and are No. 41 at FT Rate defense. Offensively, they are north of 285 at getting to the stripe, and they rely very heavily on the three ball for a lot of their points. The Pirates are top 20 overall defensively and in opponent eFG% and are top 10 at forcing turnovers. Plus, they jump into the top 10 in 3P% defense away from home, holding teams to less than 28.5% from beyond the arc. While they do send teams to the free throw line more than I would like, the Wildcats don&#8217;t attack the rim very often and should have a bad shooting night from downtown.</p>
<p>We only saw 120 total points on 63 possessions in their last meeting with a total at 135.5. The Wildcats will slow this meeting down even more so than the first, as I don&#8217;t expect more than 130 points in this game.</p>
