When the online gambling business started growing in the early 2000s, there was a clear line between the majority of owners. For the most part, sportsbooks and casinos were run independently, and it was only a few years later that sportsbooks started adding casino and poker to their businesses. However, it is entirely rare to see a Casino go the other direction and add a sportsbook after years of being only in the casino business.
This is where we find the folks from Spin Palace – a casino that has added a sportsbook recently, so we thought it would be a good idea to take a detailed look at this offering and see how it stacks up against the other sportsbooks on the market today.
History of SpinPalace.com
Spin Palace is one of the oldest brands in the online gambling industry, having first launched its casino all the way back 2001. The site is owned and operated by Bayton Ltd, which is actually a new company formed out of the old Palace Group of casinos. Although this organization fielded many complaints in the mid-2000s, it would appear that they are back on track and this brand is now flourishing.
Spin Palace launched the sportsbook section of its website in 2017, making it one of the newer brands in the space. Running a sportsbook takes a whole new set of skills from a management standpoint, so we hope the company has added some new people to control everything that happens from a sports betting perspective.
The company has two licenses – one from the Malta Gaming Authority and the other from the Kahnawake Gaming Commission. The Malta license is the one that should matter the most of players as it is far more strict when it comes to monitoring the business practices of a site.
Software and Site Design
Rather than build its own sports betting platform as many older sites did, Spin Palace’s recent launch of its sportsbook allowed it to choose from the many excellent software options on the market. In the end, they went with SB Tech, who have many clients all over the world and have an excellent reputation as a vendor.
As with every review we perform, we started by creating an account and funding it (more on that later), and then we headed over to the sports section of the site. We really like the layout of the odds page, as it provides a ton of betting options and information without having to search very hard. Like many betting sites, the betting slip is on the right-hand side of the screen and fills as soon as you click on any of the odds. For us, making bets quickly is one of the most important features of any sportsbook, and we did not find any issues with the site’s speed or ease of wagering.
All the available sports that have daily bets are listed on the left-hand side of the betting page, with some highlighted games in view in the middle of the page. We noticed that eSports and Virtual Sports also get their own tabs, which is a progressive move by the company. These two newer types of sports to bet on are definitely more attractive to a younger demographic, and the amount of money being bet on these video game matches and computer-simulated matches are increasing steadily.
We also found a list of in-play sporting events on the right-hand side of the screen, just under the betting slip area. Live Betting continues to be a popular option for many bettors, especially for sports that take a long time to complete like soccer or tennis. With the Live Odds changing all the time, a bettor could double down on an original pre-game wager or hedge their bets very easily. This is a crucial piece for any sportsbook, so we are happy to see it at Spin Palace Sports.
As we mentioned, Spin Palace started as a casino, so it is no surprise to see that this product is still prominently displayed on the homepage. The software that Spin Palace has chosen to work with all these years is Microgaming. For those of you not familiar with casinos software providers, Microgaming has been around for over 20 years and are considered one of the top vendors in the entire industry. The casino games are available either as a downloadable piece of software or can be played right in the browser. There are hundreds of amazing slots titles, along with a robust selection of Table Games and Video Poker. Overall, we are thrilled to see that Microgaming is still involved with the company and as you can see from this list of games, you are likely to end up just as happy.
There is also a Live Casino product for you to choose from in the lobby at Spin Palace Sports. These games all feature a human dealer who is being live-streamed to your device from a studio. The Live Casino at this site is provided by Evolution Gaming, who is widely considered to be the leader in the Live Dealer software space. We love these games, and highly recommend that you try them if you haven’t done so before.
While Spin Palace Sports does not currently offer a native app for iOS or Android, they do heavily promote that their games are all accessible from mobile devices. This access comes from the browsers of most Android, iOS and Windows phones and tablets. We tested some of the sports betting options on the mobile version of the site, and while obviously there isn’t as much information on each screen, the betting functionality was intuitive, and we didn’t find ourselves stumbling at all. The casino and Live Casino games are also available via this mobile delivery method, so nothing is stopping you from enjoying all this site has to offer while on the go!
Seeing that the site was a casino long before it was in the sportsbook business, it is not surprising to see so many casino-focused promotions when combing through the Spin Palace site. For the purposes of this review, we are focused on the sports offers, including this one that we think is worth discussing in more detail.
Up to $200 in Free Bet Welcome Bonus
This is a very generous looking offer on the surface, which is why it caught our eyes. Clearly, the site is very focused on bringing on new sports gamblers, so we wanted to read through the Terms and Conditions to see if there were any catches you should be aware of – here are some things we noticed.
While there are technically two offers being promoted, it certainly seems after reading the terms that it is the same offer. The site says you can get up to $200 in free bets, but this is relative to the amount you deposit. If you want to maximize the Free Bet offer, here is what you have to do:
- Create an account
- Make a Deposit of $200
- Wager that amount 5x in the 7 days after making the deposit.
A free Bet matching the deposit amount will be credited to your account – you have 7 days to use that as well.
There are some other Terms and Conditions but we felt this was enough to show you that you will indeed have to be working hard to earn this bonus. We suggest that you make a deposit of around $100 and that way you are more likely to be able to clear the bonus within the 7-day timeframe.
There are loads of great payment methods for players at Spin Palace Sports. The good news is that the site has been in the gaming business for almost 20 years, so they already had all these options available before they launched the sportsbook.
- Citadel Direct
- Direct Bank Transfer
- Instant Bank
- Visa Debit
- Visa Electron
- Easy EFT
- Pay Spark
Support at Spin Palace Sports is available via email and Live Chat, but what is most impressive about this customer service department is that the site offers support in multiple languages. A quick scan of the Help page of the website shows well over a dozen different languages represented for both Live Chat and email, which is far more than we see advertised at other sites.
Based on everything we reviewed on the sports pages of this site, and the background and pedigree of the ownership, we are totally comfortable recommending this site to our readers. If you have any feedback on Spin Palace Sports then send it our way – we love to hear what our readers think of the sites we review.
