When a company has been around for more than two decades, sometimes certain aspects of the business can become stale. It is too easy for a site to rest on its laurels, but in the ultra-competitive world of online betting, that typically ends up in disaster.
Bet Expekt has been around since the early days of the industry, so when we were told it was time to review the site, we had our reservations. However, we always try to go into each review with an open mind, so we put aside any doubts and dove right in. Here is what we found out about Expekt.
History of Expekt.com
Expekt is one of the first online betting sites to have gone live, launching all the way back in 1999. Back then, things were very different than they are for online gamblers – the delivery methods have changed, the types of products available has expanded, and the competition is far more intense for new players. With that in mind, after operating for years on its own, the original owners decided it was the right time to merge the business with others, and so it sold Expekt to the Betclic Everest Group. This group is one of the larger names in the online gambling industry, and they decided to keep the brand alive while giving the website a much-needed refresh.
Expekt is licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority, which means that all of its business practices are being monitored to ensure fairness for players. Malta is also a jurisdiction that requires player deposits be kept in an account that differs from the operational funds. All this adds up to a site that you should feel very comfortable playing with.
Players from the following countries are not allowed to open accounts at Expekt:
France, Romania, United Kingdom, United States, Italy
Software and Site Design
With a redesigned website, the first thing we wanted to do was poker around the pages to see if anything was missing. Thankfully we didn’t notice anything really out of place, so we were able to continue on to the testing portion of the review.
The homepage of the site is a standard generic page, outlining some of the top promotions available but mainly there to serve as a “front door.” We started with the sports section, and right away you are taken to the betting page – no need for any formalities here! The look and feel of the site are clean, with bright colors and backgrounds that make it easy to ingest all the information. There are lots to ingest for sure, starting right down the middle with the featured lines and bets to be made for the day. This includes a tab for games that are just about to begin, so if you are like us and head to the site at the last minute to get your bets in, this is the place to start.
A couple of features caught our attention during the playing review of Expekt. First off, we wanted to test some parlay bets, so we started fooling around with the betting slip, adding bet after bet. To our surprise, we were able to get 20 picks onto the sheet at one time! Now, while we would never tell you to make a 20-team parlay, we were able to make multiple sets of parlay bets using the picks we had selected – we love the betting interface! Moving on, another thing we noticed were some mini-game options on the right-hand side of the screen.
Here, you could try your luck at a Blackjack game or a couple of slots titles without ever having to open the casino. This is great for the player who gets bored easily and may be waiting for an updated second half line on a game. There are only a few titles, but if you really want to play casino games, there is a full section for that which we will discuss shortly.
All the sports that the site has to offer are listed on the left side of the screen, which is pretty standard. However, what we like was the running total of the number of bets available (almost 30,000 when we performed the review). There are checkboxes you can use to filter the sports down to the ones you are interested in seeing, which is important when you consider the sheer volume of available bets.
The site has some pre-set games put together for a series of Colossus bets – basically a series of pari-mutuel parlays, and in here we did find a game where you could select the outcome of 15 soccer matches to win a share of $800,000. This kind of creativity is something that sets Expekt apart from a lot of its competition.
There is also a LIve Betting Tab where you can find all the updated odds on matches that are in progress. These odds change all the time, giving gamblers a chance to make a bet right up until the game ends. We love in-game betting especially for sports like soccer which can go long stretches without any action.
Overall, we think the betting product put forward by Expekt is excellent and shows no signs of the age of the company at all.
Expekt has a full casino to tempt players alongside its sports betting platform. The casino is powered by several suppliers, such as Microgaming, NetEnt, Genesis Gaming, Amaya, Quickspin, Yggdrasil Gaming, and Thunderkick. Between all these content suppliers, there is a wide array of development styles and a great assortment of co-branded content from the entertainment world. These games, which feature characters that you will recognize from TV and movies, are very popular amongst online casino players.
If you are a fan of Live Dealer games, then you are in luck as Expekt has a full Live Casino product as well. These games have grown in popularity over the last decade as they give an online casino a more human feel to them. The games are provided by Evolution Gaming, who is an excellent software supplier exclusively building Live Dealer products.
If Texas Hold’em is your thing, you can head over to the poker section of the Expekt site. Everest Poker was once a powerhouse in the online poker community, and while that has changed over the years, the product is still excellent. If you want to play, however, you need to download the poker client to your PC where you will be able to log in to your Sportsbook account.
Anytime a site has a tab on the homepage for Mobile, we are expecting good things. At Expekt, clicking on that tab reveals the download links for the two mobile apps available. They are separated by product – one is for sports and the other casino – but they are available for both iOS and Android and do not require new account creation. When you log in with your account credentials, your balance, and history is replicated on the mobile app.
You can also play the games via the mobile browser, but if you have the option of the app, then we suggest you use that instead.
Rather than go through all the promotions on the site, which you can see by clicking on the promotions tab, we thought we would focus on the Welcome Bonus for Sports bettors. However, what we found was a little disturbing – there is no Welcome Bonus for Sports bettors. Instead, the primary bonus for the sportsbook is a $5 weekly bonus in the Expekt Club. For everyone who places at least $25 in bets during a week, a $5 Free Bet will be credited to their accounts every Monday.
This isn’t much of a promotion compared to some of the other sites we have covered, but at least there is something, and getting your free bet should be easy enough to achieve each week.
With a focus on the European market, the payment options at Expekt are diverse. From e-wallets to credit and debit cards, players should have no trouble getting their money to and from the site. For the time being, the site does not accept any cryptocurrency although that could change as the payment method becomes more widely adopted.
Bank Wire Transfer, Maestro, MasterCard, Neteller, Paysafe Card, Ukash, Visa Electron, Visa, Przelewy24, GiroPay, Multibanco, Skrill, Entropay

If you need support from Expekt, you should be aware that the Live Chat functionality is not available 24 hours a day. This is terribly disappointing, but it seems to correlate with a time when this was a sportsbook-only site and focused on the European match schedule. For us, we think this is the only real drawback for players at this site, as you will have to email them after midnight CET.
Despite an issue we have with the support hours, overall we are very pleased with the Expekt offering. With more than just a sportsbook available to those who make a deposit and two full downloadable apps, we think that you will have a very positive experience playing with this site.
