NHL Shots on Goal Player Props- Mardi Gras Edition

Happy Mardi Gras!
If you are celebrating, hope you have had a great day and will continue to have a great and SAFE night tonight 😉
The NHL will celebrate with lots of games on the ice all over the league and there are some fantastic matchups for Shots on Goal!
If you are new to this market, here are a couple of things to keep in mind:
- A shot on goal is described as when a player takes a shot that is either saved by the goaltender or is scored.
- A shot that is blocked by a defender or another player, hits the post or never reaches the goalie does not count as a SOG.
- Always be mindful and pay attention to stat corrections. After the game, sometimes shots are taken away or added depending on how they were deemed during the game. Triple check the stats post game to make sure.
Ok with that being said, lets dive in to tonight’s slate of games and find the value!
All Odds Available at these Sportsbooks
Jack Hughes o4.5 Shots on Goal (-120) Bet 365
Let’s kick this off with one of the most lethal shooters in the NHL in a fantastic matchup.
Hughes, after coming back from injury, has been awesome. He is fresh off of a 5 shots performance against the Jets 2 days ago and has a prime matchup tonight against the Habs.
In Jack’s last 2 games against the Canadiens, he has 7 SOGs in both game and in the game earlier this season, he bagged 2 goals as well.
This play is also backed heavily by our friends at BetAlytics and their data!
BetAlytics has Hughes as an A- rating and has him projected to get 5+ SOGs in this matchup, as you can see above!
Look for another fantastic performance from Hughes again tonight and you can ladder his shots up to 7 on FanDuel
Bonus:
6+ SOGs (+166)
7+ SOGs (+370)
Kevin Fiala o2.5 Shots on Goal (-143) Bet Rivers
Off we go now to Kevin Fiala against his former team in his former Arena.
The Kings take on the Wild tonight in Minnesota and Fiala has a chance to have a big night against his former club.
He loves playing the Wild, as he ripped 6 and 4 Shots on target in the two games against them as a member of the Kings.
He also has been playing well recently, ripping 5+ SOGs in 3 of his last 4 games.
Look for Kevin to stay hot and rip against his former employer again tonight!
Bonus:
Fiala 4+ SOGs (+172)
Fiala 5+ SOGs (+370)
Steven Stamkos o3.5 SOGs (-140) Bet365
Let’s keep it rolling with one of the best shooters in the league in the best possible matchup.
Stammer hasn’t been as consistent shooting the puck as we have become accustomed to in recent seasons, but he is always capable of putting up massive shot performances.
He has only 1 game in his last 5 where he eclipsed 3 SOGs, but tonight, he gets the best matchup in the NHL against the Anaheim Ducks.
The Ducks allow the MOST shots in the NHL and its not close, as they get peppered for almost 40 shots per game.
Stamkos also had 6 shots when these two faced off earlier this season and I expect a similar performance from the sharp-shooter tonight!
Bonus:
Stamkos 5+ (+168)
Stamkos 6+ (+370)
Frank Vatrano o2.5 SOGs (-104) FanDuel
Let’s cap this off by staying in the same game but with one of the Ducks.
Vatrano has been playing good hockey for Anaheim this season and especially recently shooting the puck.
He has 3+ SOGs in 7 of his last 10 games, with 6 of those being 4+ shot efforts.
He also has faired very well against the Bolts, ripping 3+ in 3 straight, with 2 of those 3 being 4+ shot performances as well.
Love the value on Vatrano to keep up the high volume and consistent shooting.
Bonus
Vatrano 4+ (+240)
Vatrano 5+ (+520)
HOW TO LADDER SHOTS ON GOAL
If you have never laddered a prop before, here is how I do it and you can adjust to your liking.
I play the original line for 1 unit. So for this example the line is 2.5 SOGs.
I then play the next number up, which in this case, is 4+ SOGs, for a half unit.
Lastly, I go up to 5+ and play that for 0.25 units.
So, it’s:
o2.5 SOGs- the orignal line, for 1 unit.
4+- 0.5 unit
5+- 0.25 unit
Laddering this way allows you to break even with a small profit if the player hits their orignal line.
Then, you ‘climb the ladder.’ The higher up the ladder you go, the more profit you make.
I don’t go any higher than 2 spots above the original line just to make sure I don’t invest too heavily and get screwed by a bad showing.
But by laddering this way, as long as the player hits their original line, you are guaranteed profit.
It’s lower risk higher reward than betting a standard line but you have to choose your spots.
You can apply this to all players and all sports. It is fun to do and if done correctly, you can really cash in on some nice plus money plays.
