Aqueduct Racing Continues: NYRA Friday Analysis, Selections

The Friday card from Aqueduct features a $90,000 allowance race. In that race Gasoline was installed as the favorite, but looks to have some tough competition.

Post: 12:20 PM ET; $43k Maiden Claiming going 6 1/2 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 6

  • #4 IRISH EMPRESS (2-1) gets the top selection. She goes out for the Lynch barn and gets Vargas in the irons.
  • #1 FOLLOW THE FED (5-2) appears to be a major player in this race. She has races good enough to beat this group. This one has the pedigree to be a major player in this spot.
  • #6 BLANCHIMENT (5-1) could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end.
  • #3 OUR ROSIE DIAMONDS (5-2) has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts. This one has to be respected going out for the combination of Chichakly and Castellano.

  • #1 LAUGHTER (4-5) is the top pick. She shouldn't have trouble with the 6 furlong distance. This one seems to fit very well here.
  • #4 WINE GODDESS (2-1) will likely have a lot to do in the lane, but could get up with a competitive run.
  • #6 REDSTRIPE PRINCESS (6-1) debuts here and feels like one that could hit the board at first asking.
  • #5 RACING QUEEN (8-1) seems to be running for the minor placings in this contest. She makes sense on speed figures. This one has tactical speed and can sit just off the leaders for a stalk and pounce trip.

Post: 1:18 PM ET; $28k Claiming going 1 mile on dirt; Entries: 8

  • #7 MONSHUN (2-1) looks best here. She has to be respected going out for the combination of Atras and Davis.
  • #1 RAFFINITY (9-2) appears to be a major player in this race. She has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here. This one could get the right setup in this race.
  • #4 PRINCESS PINKY (5-2) has the top overall power rating in the group. This one seems to fit well enough here.
  • #2 VILLAREGGIA (4-1) is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. She makes sense on speed figures.

Post: 1:46 PM ET; $55k Starter Allowance going 6 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 6

  • #5 CUPIDS GIRL (5-2) gets the top selection. She has races good enough to beat this group.
  • #1 I'M BUZZY (7-2) appears to be a major player in this race. She should be sitting in the second tier of runners and looking to make one well timed run at the leaders.
  • #2 TRUE EMPRESS (8-5) should be competitive in this spot. She has the top overall power rating in the group. This one has the speed figures to win this one.
  • #6 IDAKA (15-1) is a price horse and could be in with a shot in this race. She will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late. This one has to be respected going out for the combination of Barker and Rodriguez.

  • #3 CATCHING CUPID (9-5) is the top pick. He goes out for the Baker barn and gets Rosario in the irons.
  • #4 ACHILLES HEEL (5-1) has solid early pace figures in a race that looks to lack a ton of front running speed.
  • #1 VIOLENT ROCK (10-1) is a price horse and is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. He could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end.
  • #7 NICHOLAS JAMES (9-2) should be part of the early pace in this spot. This one goes out for the Noda barn and gets Ortiz in the irons.

Post: 2:44 PM ET; $95k Allowance Optional Claiming going 6 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 6

  • #2 SNICKET (5-1) looks like a good value here. She is a good bet to hit the board in this type of race. This one will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late.
  • #6 VIOLENT VIXEN (4-1) has really consistent pace figures which should work well in a moderately paced race. This one has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
  • #5 PATTY H (2-1) appears to be a major player in this race. She looks to be the class of the field. This one has a really good run style for the tiring winter track.
  • #1 SECRET LOVE (9-5) runs evenly and looks to get a very fair pace scenario here. This one goes out for the Kimmel barn and gets Ortiz in the irons.

Post: 3:14 PM ET; $38k Maiden Claiming going 6 furlongs on dirt; Entries: 9

  • #8 SECRET THUNDER (3-1) gets the top selection. He has races good enough to beat this group. This one has the pedigree to be a major player in this spot.
  • #5 LARZ (5-1) debuts here and isn't without hope. He goes out for the Jacobson barn and gets Ortiz in the irons.
  • #2 TWO CHUCKLES (4-1) should improve off the first start and is probably best to put underneath on most tickets. He should have the foundation to carry the 6 furlongs.
  • #1 STORMANDY (9-2) had a productive debut effort and could take a step forward here.

Post: 3:43 PM ET; $90k Allowance going 1 1/8 miles on dirt; Entries: 8

  • #3 SHIPSATIONAL (8-1) is the top pick. He has been really solid in recent starts and should be ready to run a big one here. This one may benefit from a hot pace up front.
  • #2 GASOLINE (9-5) should be competitive in this spot. He shouldn't have trouble with the 1 1/8 mile distance. This one goes out for the Pletcher barn and gets Ortiz in the irons.
  • #6 PERCEIVED (12-1) is a price horse and comes into the race in really good form. This one has proven to be able to handle these conditions in previous starts.
  • #1 BOLD VICTORY (6-1) isn't without hope. He will likely have a lot to do in the lane, but could get up with a competitive run.

  • #3 QUICK RETURN (4-1) looks best here. He comes into the race in really good form.
  • #11 DURKIN'S CALL (5-1) appears to be a major player in this race. He will be rolling late and has a good closing kick that could get the job done here. This one has the top overall power rating in the group.
  • #6 GANDY DANCING (7-2) makes sense on speed figures. This one has solid early pace figures in a race that looks to lack a ton of front running speed.
  • #9 COLORMEPAZZI (6-1) should be competitive in this spot. He shouldn't have trouble with the 6 1/2 furlong distance.
